Coffee has this reputation of bringing people together. When people meet for coffee they meet for a drink, for sharing, for relating, for communicating, for conversation. I love spending time in coffee shops. Everyone is there with a different agenda, a different conversation topic (and very interesting ones I might add! hehe). Some are swaying along with the coffee house music while others are preoccupied with their own music selection. Some are meeting for business, some for education, and some for catching up. It is a very diverse group.
But the power coffee has for bringing people together transcends a place of business. It is translated in homes. People sit around the table with cup in hand and heart opened. They lounge in over-sized chairs made for comfort and the conversations flow. In the privacy of their own home people have phone conversations, Skype conversations, personal conversations with mug in hand. I suppose it is just the magic coffee holds.
This weekend celebrate the heart to hearts. Celebrate the catching ups. Celebrate the relating, the sharing, and the listening. Cultivate relationships this weekend through communication. Pick up the phone, head to a coffee shop, invite someone over, whatever fits your style, but celebrate the joy of sharing life with people. It is a wonderful thing to live in community.
