Life can be frustrating.
It can leave you stranded, broken, lost, and disillusioned. For some reason we use the phrase “Life isn’t fair,” to teach kids how rough and impartial life can be. While it may be very true, I am not sure that makes it any easier for them to understand disappointment. Goodness, as adults we still learn the reality of that truth. Life may not be fair, but it does not have the right to determine our situation. We do that all on our own.
Life may leave us stranded, but we decide whether to stay stranded. It may leave us broken, but it is our responsibility to pick up the pieces and go again. We may feel lost, but we must light the flare and get ourselves found. We can handle the doors that life closes in our face, so long as we know there will be another door that will open.
When you find yourself outside of a door that has been closed to you, a season in life that has ended, it is bittersweet. It is the end of something. It messes with your expectations. But take it as an opportunity for a fresh start. Start new. Start strong. Start again with the expectation that the world is on your side and something wonderful will happen.
Life may not be fair, but fresh starts are. They will welcome you if you will just embrace them.
