Celebrate the Process

Monday on the blog we talked about the process; the processes that we all go through. The process of coming, the process of going, the process of knowing, the process of growing; we are all in a process. Life itself is a process. It is a series of obstacles and victories, alleyways and pathways, all leading to where ever we may be going. Yes, those processes. We all go through them. In fact, we are all in one right now. Continue reading

It’s a Process

We want things now.

We want things immediately.

No wait.

No glitch in the plan.

But rarely do we get things when we want them or how we want them, and even more rarely do things go as planned. The reality is we will have to wait and there will be many glitches in our plans. But it is all a part of the process.

We are all in a process. The process of coming, the process of going, the process of knowing, the process of growing; we are all in a process. Life itself is a process. It is a series of obstacles and victories, alleyways and pathways, all leading to where ever we may be going. Life can be a messy, frustrating process. It is always changing, yet always the same. It leaves you at a loss, yet sends you on the greatest journey of discovery. It sends you on a major learning curve with plenty of opportunities to mature. It is a process that never ends.

Whatever you are waiting on, keep waiting. Whatever you are hoping for, keep hoping. Whatever you are working towards, keep working. It is all a process. Don’t be discouraged by the time it takes, because it is the time throughout the process that enables us to learn, grow, and make great discoveries. We discover ourselves in the process. It may take longer than you would like, but embrace the process and you will always arrive on time.

It's a process

The Little Things // A Friday Photo Prompt

Every Friday on the Kyrie blog we find something to celebrate. We find a reason to celebrate. This weekend we are looking to our blog contributor Dalayna Dillon for something to celebrate. Check out her personal blog for reasons why to celebrate THE LITTLE THINGS.

This weekend treasure the little things, celebrate the little things, and find the little things you can do to spread love and encouragement. We don’t have to find a reason to perform some grand gesture that will impress. Find a little way this weekend and let’s see it!

Be sure to post your photos of the little things this weekend and tag @kyriecoffee on Instagram and Twitter and use #somethingtocelebrate. Hey, why not throw in #thelittlethings for the fun of it.

Inspiring To Do Good

Inspire: verb (used with object), inspired, inspiring.

1. to fill with an animating, quickening, or exalting influence:

     His courage inspired his followers.
Mondays here on the Kyrie blog we try to share something that will inspire good. Something that will fill readers with an animating, quickening, or exalting influence. Something that will ignite you with zeal to go out and do good. It is one of the main motives of Kyrie Coffee as a whole; to inspire good, motivate change, and challenge the norm. We don’t simply want to do good ourselves, we want to challenge and influence others to do the same. Because living for self will never satisfy or fulfill, but living for others will always reap lasting effects and truly makes life worth living. It gives us the sense that we are a part of something bigger than ourselves.
A young Ethiopian girl lay alone on the hard dirt ground staring up at the stars that were peaking through the holes in her small mud hut. She lay with tear stains on her face, making clean streaks on her dirt covered face. She often cried herself to sleep and this night was no different. She had gotten to eat dinner tonight since the family had left some scrapes on their plates. The few left over bites seem to grow in her stomach that had become so accustomed to that empty feeling. She lay staring up at the stars wondering what would become of her. Would she ever escape this life of slavery? Would she ever experience anything apart from hunger and beatings and fear? If not, was life really worth living?
Thinking back to those days tears are nearly inevitable for Abi today. How different her life has turned out to be. The love and care of a woman who became a mother transformed the life that Abi was certain she would never escape. The good that one woman could do continues to reach out to numbers of Ethiopian women. Today Abi, inspired by her mother’s love, facilitates the same kind of life transformations for prostitutes and destitute women on the streets of cities in Africa. Other women who may have found themselves wondering what would become of them now find themselves in a home, surrounded by people who care for them, and are committed to walking with them as they turn their lives of destruction into lives of purpose. This chain reaction of doing good has no end.
So when we say we are writing to inspire good we are writing to inspire you to do good. We hope you are quickened, empowered, to not duplicate what we do. We understand not everyone is supposed to sell coffee to impact the world, but everyone is supposed to do something to leave their mark on the world for good. How will you leave your mark? It doesn’t take weeks or months of planning. Go leave your mark on the world today. Be inspired and go do good.

Savor the Moments // A Friday Photo Prompt

Around here, we find something to celebrate every Friday. No we may not have a birthday, holiday, or any other valid celebration to embark on, but we find a reason to celebrate. We choose to have joy regardless of our circumstances. We carry the light to dark places and brighten things up.

Today, and this whole weekend, celebrate the moments. Yes, the very brief periods of time kind of momentsThe points in time that most would take for granted because they are so short lived. The seconds that will run away from us. Yes, those moments, savor them and celebrate them.

Celebrate the moments because they are valuable. Celebrate the moments because they are precious. Celebrate the moments because they are important. Celebrate the moments because they will soon be gone.

Though they are short and seem to be soon forgotten, moments are full. They are full of love, memories, laughter, hope, and endless joy. This weekend slow down and savor these moments. They are moments that you can never get back, but they are moments that will leave their impression on your heart forever.

Starting with the Ordinary & Inspiring Good

I think we all experience a desire for the extraordinary from time to time. We may find contentment in the ordinary for a time, but then we grow tired of the normal, of the expected, of the ordinary. I don’t know what causes that. I don’t know why we can’t be satisfied with the way things are, which is different for each person. But when we are done with life as usual we start the fight for the extraordinary with a right arm jab.

It’s a tough fight. We win some and we lose some, but the fight continues. We fight for more. More purpose. More success. More.

It’s a long fight. It takes time and it takes guts. It takes determination to not give up but to keep on keeping on.

It’s a discouraging fight. You see progress, but then you lose progress. It’s a battle in the mind. “Maybe I should just be satisfied with the ordinary. It was easier.”

You see, the extraordinary always begins with the ordinary. You can never reach extraordinary except by first conquering the ordinary. So I encourage you in your aspirations and in your dreaming. Don’t let the giant shadow of difficulty send you running to the sunny side of ordinary. Sure there may be more people hanging out over there, but if every one were living out the extraordinary there would simply be a new definition of ordinary.

Press on, keep on, dream on, and live out of the ordinary. Live out the extraordinary.

Ugly Beautiful // A Friday Photo Prompt

Socialization continues to change drastically. While socializing used to refer to the conversations you had face to face, it evolved to include conversations you would have phone to phone. Fast forward to now, you catch up on someone’s life via Facebook or Instagram. I have found that people feel as if they know what is going on in my life because they have seen pictures from my weekend fun, or a recent road trip, or whatever little venture I have embarked on lately. Sometimes people even know things I never told them just because of what I have posted through social media. It’s crazy.

However, life can seem so perfect when interpreted through pictures. Maybe that is what coined the phrase “picture perfect.” Seriously. I find myself scrolling through Instagram thinking, “Is that real life? How does their life always look like the perfect picture?” But the truth is, their life is just as perfect as yours is… it’s not.

Life isn’t perfect. It isn’t even close, but it is beautiful. I may have lost you with that line. YES, your life is beautiful too. It is an ugly kind of beautiful. You see life is full of the ugly, the messy, the confusing, and the complicated. But that is what makes it so beautiful. It is proof that perfection doesn’t equal beauty. Your life is beautiful because it is your life. It is original. It is one of a kind. It has so much potential to become whatever you want it to be. It is something to treasure and something to celebrate.

High Hopes & Inspiring Good

Friday I shared about finding happiness; about choosing happiness in every situation. How did that go for ya?

I didn’t say it would be perfect, or that it would be easy. But did you find some happiness?

It is funny, I wrote that only hours before having some major family emergencies of my own. That is how it works sometimes. We make a plan that seems so perfect, celebrate happiness, and then a wave of craziness crashes over you. But guess what, that didn’t steal my joy. Yes it rocked my  weekend, but it didn’t rock my world. There wasn’t a moment that was according to plan, but I celebrated the happiness of all the unexpected moments.

Maybe something tried to steal your joy this weekend. All of that is over. A new week of opportunity is here. Have hope.

Maybe you had a wonderful weekend filled with all kinds of little moments of happiness. A new week of opportunity is here. Have hope.

Yes, no matter what last week had for you, no matter what the weekend had for you, have hope that this week will be filled with promise and joy. Get your hopes up. Expect something wonderful. Because, why not? This week is as good as any. Hope for something good. Hope for something magical. Hope for something adventurous. Hope for something special. Have high hopes for your week, because many times all that you can change is your perspective.

Happiness // A Friday Photo Prompt

Happiness is something many people have attempted to define. Many have tried to give directions to seek it out. Many have composed ways to capture it. There has been step after step promising to get you there, but still it escapes many of us. Happiness is something we are all sure to experience at one time or another, but it is something few take along for the ride. Too many find happiness and quickly lose it.

I will not attempt to give you a step by step guide to finding true happiness, but I will state a few things that we must understand about the topic. Happiness can be very shallow and very temporary when it is based on circumstances. Circumstances can change very suddenly, but our happy attitude doesn’t have to. When our happiness is rooted in a person it can dissipate quickly as well. Don’t let your happiness be robbed by someone else’s chooses or mood. Choose to be happy. Because that’s exactly what it is, a choice that we must make every single day.

Life may not be going the way you would like right now, but be happy anyways.

Things may not be working out the way you expected, but be happy anyways.

Choose happiness this weekend. In the messy, in the unexpected, in the unimagined. Celebrate & be happy.

Trying & Inspiring Good

Hello there, and welcome to Monday once again!

(cue the moans & eye rolling)

We all make our jokes about Mondays. We joke about sleeping in, about Mondays being rough, about the horrible-ness of MONDAYS. But in reality they are going to keep coming and we will probably continue to joke about hating them (Poor Mondays…). But this Monday I would like to offer you some motivation for the week that your coffee mug may not be supplying you today.

Every accomplishment starts with a decision to try.

Mondays are the start to the week. It is on Monday that we must decide the week we will have. Yes, decide. What I am saying there is the success or disappointment of your week lies on you. Sure you can experience disappointments, but that doesn’t mean you have to have a disappointing week. Decide today that you will try and just see what you can accomplish with that simple decision.

I encourage you to try things this week. Try something new. Try something hard. Try something that’s been on your heart. Try something you have failed at in the past. Just try, because there is never any accomplishment that comes by another path.
